Client Overview

Born in the kitchen of founders Howard and Darlene Sandifer, the Chicago West Community Music Center has grown into a cornerstone of Chicago's West Side and has been dedicated to enhancing families and community through music. From youth instruction and professional development to Black Muse, their weekly video podcast celebrating Black cultural expression, CWCMC proves that music education is about far more than notes on a page.

Chicago West Community Music Center ABC7 News Feature

A feature on ABC7 Chicago is a significant brand moment, and the post treatment needed to match. Written, structured, and edited by me, this carousel post was built with a clear editorial logic: hook first, teaser video in the middle, CTA last. Rather than simply sharing the news clip and hoping for engagement, the structure was designed to pull viewers through the content and give them a reason to seek out the full story. It earned 70 Instagram likes and 396 Facebook video views. VIEW HERE

Happy Birthday, Darlene!

Birthday posts are easy to write shallow. This one, written entirely by me for both Instagram and Facebook, was a deliberate effort to do more with the moment, honoring Darlene Sandifer's birthday while making sure the copy reflected the depth of her contribution to music education and arts access for Chicago's underserved youth. The result landed warmly with the community. VIEW HERE

Black Music's Role in Activism & Social Change

Black Music Month gave CWCMC a natural opportunity to speak to something at the core of their mission, and this post, written by me, was designed to make the most of it. Rather than a surface-level celebration, the copy traces a deliberate arc through history, connecting jazz and blues to the Civil Rights Movement to hip-hop's emergence as the voice of the voiceless, giving the audience a sense of the full sweep of Black music's cultural and activist legacy.
